In the last issue, I wrote about the power of affirmations, and offered to help create an affirmation for anyone who asked. Cheryl, who needs to support herself and her children, emailed that she wanted a new, wonderful job which provided overflowing abundance. I offered her the following affirmation suggestions:
I am a success! I am successful in all that i do today! I have abundance in all areas of my life! Everything i need is flowing into my life today! The universe is guiding me to the perfect job that brings me abundance in all things. God is guiding me to the perfect job for me and my children!
When Cheryl wrote her own affirmation, she let go of her original focus on a “new” job, and wrote instead: “i have a wonderful job, where i am loved and appreciated. i have a great boyfriend and great friends.” After putting her affirmation to work, this is what she reported:
“Well, my employer has, for the past one and a half weeks, been complimentary and easy to get along with.I met a very nice man and my friends are wonderful. I don’t know if I spread my affirmations too thin by concentrating on three things, but there are changes going on in my life that are undeniable.”
Cheryl makes a good point about keeping affirmations focused. I suggest that you create and repeat one affirmation at a time. If you want to add more, make sure that you have one as your primary affirmation, and that you attend to it daily even if you are rushed or tired.
In creating an affirmation, remember that often our heart knows what we need more than our head does. In our head we might think, “If I had this or that, life would be better.” But when we let our heart speak… ahhh, we come from a place of truth. So take a moment and put your hand over your heart. Breathe deeply and slowly. Imagine an aspect of your life you would like to change. Create an affirmation which is 1) positive, 2) powerful, 3) personal, 4) possible and 5) in the present moment. Write it ten times a day for 21 days and watch for miracles! Look what happened for Cheryl in just ten days!
